The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is the supercar that sets a whole new standard of performance. Its incredible low-slung motor delivers incredible acceleration and speed, and its featherweight design maximizes the effect of every last bit of thrust. And with innovations and materials so advanced that they’re derived from one of the best fighter jets ever made, the Mustang GTD advances the cutting edge of automotive design.
Redefining the Supercar
With a supercharged 5.2L engine based on the Predator design, the Mustang GTD delivers performance that has taken the automotive world by storm. A staggering 815 horsepower and top speed of over 200 mph is more than enough to buy entry into the class. But by tackling the grueling 12.9 miles and 73 corners of the Nürburgring circuit in under 7 minutes, the Mustang GTD seared its mark into motorsports history.
Technical Innovation
The Mustang GTD is loaded with features that make it stand out from the rest of pony car history. The engine is fed oil by the first dry-sump oil system Ford has ever offered on a Mustang meant for the highways, which keeps the engine bathed in oil even during high-energy cornering maneuvers. The dual ride height suspension system, which can lower the chassis by up to 40mm for track performance, is the first of its kind in the class.
Aerodynamic innovations and weight saving materials contribute to the Mustang GTD’s awesome performance. The vented front fenders relieve built-up air around the front wheels which can contribute to drag while also cooling the Brembo forged carbon ceramic brake. The enormous spoiler is made out of carbon fiber, as are many of the body panels and even the driveshaft, which connect the massive engine to the rear drive wheels.
Fighter Jet Style
When conceptualizing and designing the Mustang GTD, Ford took plenty of cues from Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor fighter jet, one of the most maneuverable and elite aircraft ever designed. The titanium exhaust system isn’t the only nod to its heritage, either. Ford even makes the serial plates and available 3D-printed paddle shifters from titanium recycled from decommissioned Raptor fighter jets.
The cockpit of the Mustang GTD takes more from its Mustang heritage. A 12.4″ LCD digital cluster resides alongside a 13.2″ center infotainment screen to provide the driver with all the information they need to take their performance to the next level. The displays are powered by the Unreal Engine for incredible game-like graphics.
The 2025 Mustang GTD may be available by application only, but Mustang fury is a test drive away. Take a Mustang out for a spin today at Tehrani Motors in Valentine, NE.
